I'm excited because I just got my EFF t-shirt in the mail today for
renewing my membership in the Electronic Frontier Foundation. If you haven't heard about the EFF, it's a non-profit civil rights group that fights for your rights in the electronic age. EFF stands up for online privacy, freedom of speech, and freedom from unreasonable search and seizure of your confidential information by the government. EFF has spearheaded the fight against illegal wiretapping of the communications of ordinary Americans by the National Security Administration. In a landmark case,
Hepting v. AT&T, EFF sued AT&T the telecommunications giant on behalf of its customers for violating privacy law by collaborating with the NSA in the massive, illegal program to wiretap and data-mine Americans’ communications.
Evidence in the case includes undisputed evidence provided by former AT&T telecommunications technician Mark Klein showing AT&T has routed copies of Internet traffic to a secret room in San Francisco controlled by the NSA:
